How to listen to Serial Port?

There is a certain device connected to the Serial Port of the computer, it communicates with the PC, what software can be installed on the Hook over the Serial Port in order to reverse-engineer the data exchange protocol?
I tried COM Port Toolkit, AccessPort, Terminal and some others, but when exchanging device data with the main software, they all write that COM Port is in use, I tried capture, wiretapping, terminal in all modes ...
In general, how to install a hook on a com port what am i doing wrong?
