How to link node.js, nginx and vps?

Hello. Faced a problem. Previously, I always coded on a local machine, but now I decided to upload projects to VPS and faced a total misunderstanding of things. I have a vps and a domain (site.ru, for example).
How to work with vps, I already understood. But I don’t understand how I can make it so that when it hits site.ru, the static is returned through nginx, requests are processed through the node. Moreover, I don’t understand how to link my domain to vps.
I'm sorry if I put it wrong somewhere. Totally noob on this thread.
