How to limit traffic consumption in roaming?

Going abroad, I formulated the following question for myself (a little lower), but did not find an adequate answer on the net. If someone has a similar experience or just a link to a guide on this issue, please share.
In order not to go broke once again, I would like to set up my Android phone in such a way that while I am not on my home network:

  • did not update installed applications (even basic a la Facebook)
  • did not automatically read mail from Gmail
  • did not check, and did not download, respectively, system software updates
  • well, and other similar functions that actually entail a large consumption of traffic via GPRS

Perhaps there is some kind of program that solves all these problems?

There is. Look towards droidwall. This is a brandamuer, in which you can clearly define what the device is allowed to do and what is not.

set up a firewall with the option to block the traffic of individual applications. turn it on when you leave the house.
As for updating applications in the market, there is an option to do this only through wifi.
mail can be put on manual update.

I use these tips (I did not install a firewall), it does not consume anything extra (only when connected to wifi): devfaq.ru/search?tagid [1]=1247&tagid[2]=1

You can change the access point, assign some extra letter-number.

1. Disable data transfer in roaming
2. Settings --> Account and synchronization --> uncheck those that do not need to be synchronized, remove data transfer in the background, disable auto-sync.
If you still need the Internet and want to see how much traffic is gone, 3G Watchdog will help.
