How to let traffic through VPN only for certain hosts?

Sometimes you have to work from home, connect via VPN to the company network. But at the same time, all traffic goes through the VPN. Is it possible to somehow select the hosts or subnets to which you need to go through the VPN? I saw some way with the host records by the "route add" command, but is there any software for this task?

Depends on the client you are using, on the client side you need to set a setting, something like
"Use this connection only for resources on this network"

If you use OpenVPN as a VPN implementation, then you can instruct the server itself to send only those routes that are necessary to your client.
If not, you can write a cmd-file in which to do this with the route command you mentioned.
