1. Watch less, think more.
When I write code, I don't look at the screen much. The head thinks about what to write, or is busy trying to understand what is written on the screen.
When I read books, I: 1) often take my eyes off the book in order to digest what I have read (when some difficult moment comes across); 2) you need to filter the text - do not read everything in a row, (this is not fiction) - some of the information may already be known to me (this happens often, I'm not a complete teapot, but a specialist), some is useless (some writers can dilute abstract lyrics into a couple of pages), all this can and should be skipped.
2. We work half a day, we do sports, housework, etc. for half a day. The 5/2 mode is harmful to the body and unproductive. A free schedule is much more useful in every way. In winter, for example, I like to go skiing before lunch, and after lunch I work at the computer. In summer, bike.
3. The mouse is evil. When we try to click a button on the screen with the mouse, we move the cursor across half the screen and, straining our eyes, track the path of this cursor - we need to hit the button! And when we press a combination of keys, then vision is not used for this at all, the fingers themselves press what is needed, using muscle memory. So, hot keys are our everything, they need to be memorized, at least those that have to be used often. I like to print a complete list of hotkeys in the IDE in a table on several sheets and hang it on the wall behind the monitor.

A good monitor ... Yes, they are all good at first glance.
Take it without the PWM effect, your eyesight is seriously affected because of it.
Plus, don't let your eyes dry out. Install eye-saving programs: F.lux, Redshift and EyeLeo.
Be sure to take breaks (preferably with exercise). A sedentary lifestyle is bad for posture and blood stasis. Equip a place for yourself so that you can also work standing up.

the distance to the screen, the more the better - so that there is no accommodation spasm due to chronic tension of the eye muscles that change the curvature of the lens. Ideally, 5 meters - then the complete relaxation of these muscles.
maximum diagonal monitor - from 27 for example DELL SE2717H
the main thing is to have a backlight without flickering + weakening of the blue color - if this is not the case, then the eyes get tired and the retina burns out
as an option to periodically change the distance to the screen - alternate the tablet / monitor / TV
periodically after half an hour, look into the distance for several minutes from the window, fast blinking, massage,
sufficient illumination of the workplace is needed - when there is little light, vision deteriorates
glasses for working at a computer, for example, blue gut - which cut off the blue part of the spectrum - because of which the eyes get tired and the retina burns out (bought for 1750)
drops of emoxibel and taurine
treatment and prevention on visiotronic devices and electrical stimulation of the optic nerve

the level of vision depends on the genetic predisposition
I have been sitting at a computer for 10 years and I see everything perfectly
, but a sedentary lifestyle leads to prostatitis :)

Oh, well, you're not sitting at a CRT monitor. I started in general ha Hercules with displays - there really was a tin. With modern LCD monitors, such a question is actually not at all worth it. All the same as for the back, hemorrhoids and obesity will be applicable for the eyes - the alternation of work with rest, posture, activity, a healthy lifestyle and workplace.

How are you losing it? How?
Here, any monitor is normal until it has power saving mode or night mode (when the blue spectrum is blocked).
Buy a better chair. Ikeevsky for 4-6k top chair in the world.

Choose high-quality glasses with an anti-reflective coating that increases the light transmission of the lens and a slight tinting effect (5-15%). You also need to force yourself to get up every hour and do a light workout, if possible go out into the fresh air. Eye exercises are also very effective. In addition to the fact that they have a good effect on vision and even improve it, they also help to relax and then better concentrate on work.
