How to iterate over fonts in Photoshop without selection?

The standard font enumeration scheme described on most resources sounds like this:

  1. Create Text Layer
  2. Select text
  3. Click on the font panel in the field with the name of the font
  4. Scroll through fonts with cursor keys

It seems to me, or is this method inconvenient because when iterating over fonts, we see them selected with inverted colors (see figure)? And every time it seems that you have found a suitable font, you need to deselect it to check how it looks in real color with the rest of the layers, and then repeat steps 2-4 152ebbcb61434c57844ba8e5ec4f0e06.pngQuestion: is it possible to iterate over fonts without selecting text?
I would like to make a reservation in advance that most likely you can configure it in the settings so that the font color is not inverted when selected. But this does not solve the problem of the selection itself.

Yes, it's enough to select the layer with the text (namely, the layer, not the text itself) and in the "Character" window you can sort through the fonts:
