How to install Ubuntu 13.10 second axis with Windows 8.1?
Hello.
I have a laptop Lenovo z585 with AMD A10 and video Radeon HD 7660G+Radeon HD 7660Mb 8 GB RAM
Windows 8.1 Pro x64 installed.
I want to put Ubuntu 13.10 (or something like that - Mint, Kubuntu ...) as the second axis for inhuman experiments.
I downloaded an image for x64 from the Ubuntu website and made a bootable USB flash drive based on it (using unetbootin).
When I try to boot from this flash drive, I am offered a choice - install or just run Ununtu. But no matter what I choose, nothing happens. Black screen and all. The indicator on the flash drive indicates that it is no longer being read from it.
What I did:
- I burned a disc to DVD
- I wrote it to another USB flash drive
- I usedwww.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy...
- Switched AHCI mode to Legacy and SATA
in BIOS - Enabled and disabled EFI support in BIOS
Nothing worked. Unless when switching EFI, the appearance of the installation / launch proposal changed.
msinfo32 says Secure Boot is not supported.
What else can be done?

Try to install ArchLinux with AHCI and EFI enabled (it's not important in principle, but Winda should swear if you install something else), maybe he will indicate what the trouble is?
At one time I came to the conclusion that for experiments with a second OS, it is better to either upgrade a virtual machine or purchase a separate computer (if you don’t have your own unused laptops, you can buy it cheaply). Two operating systems on one machine are, firstly, inconvenient, and secondly, after some regular Windows update or installation of some software, it is easy to lose the ability to boot under Linux.
