How to install proprietary driver for Radeon HD 6850M for Debian 9 ("Stretch")?

Hello gentlemen. There is a laptop with an old graphics card Radeon HD 6850M. Installed OS Debian 9 ("Stretch"). Is it possible to install proprietary drivers from AMD? If yes, how? I just read somewhere that AMD has abandoned the development of fglrx for new OS versions.
PS It seems like people concocted fglrx for fresh "mint", but it's somehow scary to put this on Debian.

Link to the changelog of the latest Catalyst release, "Linux kernel 2.6 or above (up to 3.19 )" and you're in the air.
