How to install new programs on old mac os x?

How to install a new version of the keykey program that is designed for mac 10.11 on mac 10.10? Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nsfhhKeJFk. It's simple: you need to change the minimum compatible version in the program file (info.plist). I do the same, but I still get an error that I need to update the version.
