How to install linux next to windows 7?
I have Windows 7 64-bit on my computer. There are 3 partitions:
C - Windows is installed on it
D - video music and other things are stored on it
H - empty 30 GB (I think it's enough for Ubuntu)
How can I install Ubuntu in the H partition and not damage Windows

Run the installer, select "manually" there when partitioning disks and select the desired partition.
I used this method: partition and format the H partition to the ext4 file system (I used partition magic), or if everything is already broken, then you can format it in the ubuntu installer. Next, run the installation disk and install ubuntu on the H partition. After that, you need to configure grub so that the OS selection window appears before the system boots, what to boot win or linux (I recommend finding it in advance (alas, I don’t remember where I looked) and read the article, what would I do right away later)
Put the installer on disk H and during installation select the properties of this disk and be sure to choose where to put the bootloader - on / (ie, in the root) Then you will have both Windows and Ubuntu.
Install Linux normally. If the automation did not work, and grub.cfg was not automatically generated, such that you can choose between Linux and Windows, then you need to install os-prober from the repository, and then regenerate grub.cfg.
Or just add the desired menuentry to grub.cfg manually.
I'm not completely sure, but most likely the ubuntu installer will do everything itself.
I would recommend putting the /boot partition on a separate partition. Less hassle in the future if you want to demolish Ubuntu.
When installing ubuntu, select manual partitioning and split your 30gb partition into two, for example, give 4gb to swap (swap partition) and the rest to / (root). otherwise, you can generally poke "next" "yes" "yes" "next".
There is another option to use vbox if you just want to play around.
Actually for this case, Ubuntu has the richest manual. help.ubuntu.ru/manual/%D1%83%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%...
