How to install a template today?

Almost any documentation for the template in the Getting Started section contains fancy npm, gulp tools and tons of instructions for them on how to build / compile the template.
What for?
Isn't it possible to just connect all these templates with a couple of lines like Bootstrap?

You can, formally everything will work exactly the same (well, everything will not compile into one js file), but you will lose all the advantages of using frontend builders and a package manager
