How to insert SELECT2 module?

Good day to all. There was a need to insert a search with multiple selection on the site. I searched on Google, found on your site links to modules that allow you to do this, downloaded the module https://github.com/select2/select2 , but I don’t understand how to insert it on the site, as the documentation says, I also didn’t do anything it turns out, displays the standard select and that's it. I've been fighting for a week now, good people help me. Explain how to implement it. I'm bad at JS and jQuery. Please do not throw sticks, I am just starting this difficult path.
