How to insert a transparent image in Photoshop?

How to paste a transparent image in Photoshop using the windows clipboard? I tried to create CF_DIB (32 bits per pixel), PNG formats and feed it to Photoshop, but Photoshop does not recognize the alpha channel in the CF_DIB format, photoshop does not support pure PNG format (although the same Office 2007 / Gimp work fine with a similar format).
For the sake of interest, I tried to copy transparent pictures between Gimp, Office 2007 and photoshop - but the same trouble, transparency is not saved, it is processed incorrectly. Maybe I'm using the wrong formats? Or I'm using them incorrectly. There is of course a version that photoshop only supports transparency for its internal formats
