How to increase the communication range of a GSM cell phone?

Ways to improve the connection of 3G modems with the help of new large antennas, etc. are often described, but how to improve communication in the village so that at least you can talk? What antennas or amplifiers are needed, preferably on a budget?

If the phone allows you to connect external antennas, use the appropriate antenna.
If not, then there are GSM repeaters .

As an option, use the femocell habrahabr.ru/company/beeline/blog/129424/. Unless of course there is a stable channel in the Internet. Or forward calls to a megaphone multiphone. If there is of course a stable Internet! =D

If the phone itself has a weak / insufficient signal, then without additional accessories / devices there is practically nothing.
As an option - see where the antenna is located in the phone, what form it is in and whether something can be done with it. Well, either find which operator normally catches in this very village, buy a SIM card and for the duration of the visit (if these are visits, and not permanent residence) set forwarding to a "village" number.
I have seen models where the antenna is located, for example, on the back cover and, accordingly, you can slightly increase the signal without disassembling the phone, but such happiness is quite rare.
