How to increase the bandwidth of the local network?

Greetings.
There is a home local area network. Inside there are 2 computers and a router.
All cards are 1Gb, ASUS RT68 router is also 1Gb. Incoming channel 100Mb.
Ubuntu and Win10 machines.
Computers are connected by cables. The speed on samba (with Ubuntu) does not exceed 10MB / s. Why?
How to increase speed? Other cables may be needed (never replaced - some have been standing for many years). Or settings of special samba and other components?
Thank you.

It is quite difficult to answer the question "why" without making any measurements and not having access to your network.
To get started, try testing the network throughput between machines using iperf - this will answer the question of whether other cables are needed, or if it's not in the physical layer, but higher.

In the connection setting itself, it is indicated that the connection was wound up at what speed?
In addition to samba, how do other protocols work in LAN? ftp/http?
