There was a need for remote access to a directory on a server with Debian 8
Set up OpenVPN and Samba
But the speed is simply depressing .. There is a project with a git repository in the directory and in general a lot of small files. The download speed fluctuates between 4-5 KB / s, which you yourself understand very very little.
The question is, how to increase the speed of work with Samba share?
Maybe there is an alternative?
Now the scheme of work is as follows: connecting via OpenVPN to the server and mounting the Samba folder as a network drive in Explorer. Then I work with this in PhpStorm

UPD1: I tried without OpenVPN, the speed increased by about 5-10%, which in the end does not change the picture
