How to implement your own myapp:// protocol at the OS level
Hello. I have a question. Is it possible to implement your own protocol, i.e. something like myapp://… to redirect everything after it to some service or application. Interested in what direction to dig. At least a couple of links. Interested in Windows and * nix-s.

Hmm… I don’t know if it will work, but for example, here’s how Transmission and Co. are attached to a magnet link: in win & linux: maketecheasier.com/open-magnet-link-in-browser/2010/02/19
At least Skype also hangs itself on skype:. True, as it turned out, this is not enough for chrome (under Windows), although the same IE8 worked with a bang.
