How to implement events (post type) in joomla?

You need to make an event page in joomla, sorted according to the nearest events. There is an idea to make fields for the start and end dates (for posts in the event category), then get them in the topic, request posts for them and replace those displayed by default so that the sorting is correct and the pagination works as it should. Will it work? If so, what file should I edit / create in the subject for this? (page type in Category Blog menu)
