How to implement a connection between Disk Storage and an IBM server via FC?
prehistory:
1) a ds3500 express and an IBM server were purchased from an IBM dealer,
2) a 4-port FC board for DS was ordered for it
3) and a controller (actually 2 pcs) for the server
(Qlogic FC controllers, recommended by the same IBM dealer. )
now the story:
I’ll immediately make a reservation that we planned to use it on the ProxMox platform.,
after connecting - disks (LUNs) are visible in the server OS., but it’s almost impossible to work in them., formatting - for hours, even a small 10 Gigabyte LUN, displaying information about section - a few minutes, swearing at I\O, etc.
tried on VMware - history repeated itself.
tried on Win 2008 - the same thing, didn't even come with a plugged in controller.
contacted the dealer, he sent us to IBM.,
IBM after a few minutes said that you definitely need an FC switch.
After some thought - we plugged the controller into a regular PC., without a switch, and lo and behold! everything worked as it should., and on Windows 2008 and on ProxMox, both controllers work with a bang.
Question: what to do and who is to blame?

The situation, of course, is ambiguous ...
But if I were you, I would "bend over" the dealer. And to make it move, and not really rest, you can hint at a "knock" at IBM.
