How to implement a bash script?

Sorry for the somewhat stupid question, I just haven't come across this, but I really need to do it.
Here is a task: Given a PostgreSQL database, "using the bash command shell, write a script that will display a table with sales data for a certain period of time (it is set by parameters)"
