How to highlight text with shift+home, shift+end in Xubuntu?

Before that I worked in Ubuntu, I wrote the following line in /etc/default/keyboard and the selection worked. Recently I moved to Xubuntu and it turned out that this method does not work.
Who knows how to solve this problem?
