How to give access to the site to programmers, without any consequences?

Tell me how project managers or site owners do when hiring programmers. After all, for example, someone can take and delete, or hook some code that can ruin the site.

It is advisable to trust the programmers. Otherwise, it's like inviting a terrorist home.

If git is difficult, you can give a backup of the site, removing / deleting all data not related to the programmer, such as users, orders, etc.

It is advisable to trust - this is a very controversial garbage. Different things happen in life - they didn’t work together, they didn’t see eye to eye. And people are different - someone without emotions, someone in anger will take and erase everything to hell. Why do programmers need a server at all? Git is a great interface for programmers. And it solves trust issues. Of course, in conjunction with the code review.

Usually, appropriate contracts are concluded for the performance of work or labor, if in the state. This saves from deliberate terrorism.
From unintentional save periodic copies and version control systems.

I can say from experience that I was called up many times as a programmer for finishing, improvements to existing systems. and very rarely people thought about security, they usually give ftp + steering wheels from the hoster, i.e. You can do anything... but I can say that if the programmer is experienced, then the risk is minimal.
