How to get the zen of web design?
Good day, comrades!
I am sis. admin, NOC. More than 10 thousand users in the network. And all I've done all my life is, one might say, the backend. It so happened that I decided to start earning "on the side". So to speak, in a piggy bank. I got involved in a loan and now I need money. Previously, Z.P. was also enough.
This is all a prelude... :)
Now, the question is: how to comprehend the zen of web design, from which I have always been so far away? I know website development well, but design is my weakness. Those. I can do something, but how to show it beautifully? For my needs, I always use bootstrap, but it is not a panacea.
I need a list of resources where I can learn page design. So that everything turns out beautifully.
Thanks

I have a degree in software engineering. At one time, he worked as a content designer, layout designer, and marketer. For the last 16 years I have been professionally engaged in UX / UI design of portals, web services and applications.
And now, after 16 years, I can say 100% that the man-orchestra no longer works. Either checkers, or go.
In each of the areas you have to learn CONSTANTLY. That is, the option of constant development in both areas will lead to the loss of the family, any free time, a good night's sleep and potency)))
It is better to find a fellow designer who will quickly solve the problem without noise and dust, and you will receive a fee from a happy client.
Strength in specialization, develop in your field, otherwise you somehow mark time in one place. So it's time to change jobs!
Learning web design so that it is bought from you is years of work + talent. There is no magic button here, after pressing which you will suddenly understand everything.
So my advice to you is to delve into your topic. Multi-stationers who grab the tops get very little, but cool, knowledgeable specialists get a lot.
I can’t say for sure, but somewhere in the open there was a link to a guide from Lebedev. Which Artemy. Highly recommended as not just a design, but also an introduction to UI / UX development.
Here's what I found , but it seems to be not the same, although it is very relevant. When you find where there will be direct examples of interfaces (I specifically remember the principle on the example of the RBK-TV remote control), then this will be what I was talking about =)
It’s better not to be greedy and outsource what you don’t know how.
I'm pretty good at both sides of the web, but, for example, I wouldn't even try
to make an application for mobile phones now.
To understand the zen of page design, you need to delve into the design. Starting with fonts, art, printing.
Do you have a craving for drawing or any other visualization of the imagination? If not, the craving for visual creativity (sculpting, drawing, painting, architecture, etc.), then most likely it will be a waste of time. It is very easy to check, try to master some simple drawing book, for example, Mark Kistler - "You can draw in 30 days." Of course, she won’t teach you how to draw, but at least she will make it clear whether the topic of visualization is interesting or complete boredom. If it gets boring, don't continue. If you like it, you can go ahead and use this onehint in which direction to move on. You will master drawing, you will be able to understand the correctness / incorrectness of the construction of forms / perspective / shadows. You can choose matching colors without any clumsy blenders, set a certain mood for the viewer. Then you will study a variety of styles, trends in art, master modern graphic tools. Further, by mixing knowledge of academic drawing and modern trends in visual art, you can create something of your own, something new. Or at least do something well-tested old, without errors.
Z.Y. Personally, for me, "designers" who do not know how to draw at least sketches cause a fit of fun.
