How to get the gender of a person in the Instagram API (mgp25/Instagram-API)?

Good afternoon! I can't figure out if it's possible to get the gender of a person using the mgp25/Instagram-API library
There is a method to get the gender
$...->getUser()->getGender()
But it never worked, when I get information about a person, it just doesn't have a field where the gender should be specified, so the method returns an empty string.
I can assume that this only works for the account from which I logged in, but why then assign this method to the User model?
Or how can you alternatively understand the gender of the user?
