How to get rid of layout switch brakes in Ubuntu?
The most important parameter that is important to me in a computer is the convenience of the keyboard.
I bought a light laptop for work on trips, and keyboard switching slows down.
You press Caps Lock and each time you look to see if the layout has switched or I am typing large again. Sometimes when switching layouts, the sound of a working hard drive is heard, although there is free memory.
On Windows, switching is worked out to automatism - I don’t even look.
You need English - click on the combination Ctrl-1. It is necessary Russian - on Ctrl-2.
On ubuntu 16.04, I did not find such an opportunity.
About 15 years ago I was picking configs to configure the keyboard in Linux. But there is no strength left. I spent 3 days only on drivers and sleep mode to no avail.
Is there an alternative layout switcher so that switching by Ctrl-1, 2 works STABLY?
Can you recommend another Linux distribution?
Equipment - ASUS laptop on Core i5 5200U with 4 GB, hdd and NVIDIA video.
