How to get network usage statistics on Android device?

I ran into such trouble. I get information about network usage by application through TrafficStats and NetworkStatsManager. I also tried reading /proc/uid_stats/. As it turned out, this does not work everywhere and not always correctly. Interested in RX \ TX bytes for applications. Does anyone else know how to get this information?
