How to get Gatsby + Contentful + Netlify right?

There is a gatsby starter kit installed locally.

It is related to contentful.
I add posts to contentful, run gatsby deploy. Posts appear. All OK.

Decided to deploy to nelify. I launched gatsby build, uploaded the public folder to github, deployed it from github to netlify.

And here it turns out that I make changes to contentful, do I have to run the build locally, then send it to github and run the deployment on netlify? Is there any way to simplify/automate?
