How to get data from excel file without using OPENROWSET?

From time to time, excel files fall into the folder from the mail, the data from which needs to be added to the database on Sql Server. At first I tried to use the OPENROWSET statement, but from time to time, for unknown reasons, it hangs, giving no opportunity to kill the process except for restarting the sql server.
