How to get cpu temperature on laptop using win API?

For study, you need to get information about the cpu temperature, and the cooler speed. A laptop is used as a machine.
In the book Nesvizhsky V. Hardware Programming in Windows, I found an example of working with hardware monitoring. I was looking for microcircuits used in laptops, I really didn’t find anything, only a mention that a multicontroller is doing this. For my laptop, I did not find a datasheet for the multicontroller.
Maybe someone has experienced something similar, and there is information on more details.
In which direction to dig for answers and solutions to this issue?
