How to get all the text from the page, and then replace it with a new one?

Good afternoon. I'm trying to implement in my browser extension, page translation (like Google or Yandex). But I can’t figure out how to implement the process of taking text from a page and replacing it with another one. I can translate and then replace selected text on a page. But to translate the entire page, I don't know how to do it. I would be grateful for any hints and examples.
