How to get acquainted with software under Linux?
Greetings!
I'm going to buy a laptop, and the only system to keep there is most likely Ubuntu. (it's too early for others)
Let's say under Windows I know a bunch of software for different tasks. How to get acquainted with software under Linux? (except chrome/moz:lla/vlc/filezilla etc) I'll learn
about some programs here , but maybe you can advise something else?
Thank you.

Choose the software you want to find an alternative to, choose the platform, license. You get a list sorted by how many people consider this program the best replacement.
1) Take the name of the software you need - look for alternatives.
2) If this is Ubuntu, then there is a Software Center, in which the software is divided into categories and with quite adequate annotations.

whatever your heart desires, there are a lot of analogues, and half generally has native versions under Linux.
It seems to me that we need to proceed from directly arising tasks, and it’s strange to look for a place to search for software that you don’t need at the moment,
and then there is an “Application Center” in ubuntu, quite a source of information about software
It is necessary to proceed from the tasks - how the task arose, and look for an analogue. Moreover, there may not be an analogue, especially if the program is highly specialized.
