How to generate LetsEncrypt certificate on Vesta CP for Wordress Multisite?
Good day.
There is Wordpress, with the Multisite feature enabled. It is installed on a hosting with Apache and Nginx, which is managed by Vesta CP.
Accordingly, I expect to create any number of subdomains and manage them from a single admin panel.
And it would seem yes, for this in Vesta CP you just need to specify the main domain site.ru and *.site.ru as an alias.
But what if you want to use SSL certificates?
To do this, you can register each subdomain with a separate alias - then the LetsEncrypt generated by the panel will work ...
But this is not accurate, since with a large number of aliases, the certificate generation does not always work, and the panel crashes with a 504 Nginx error.
I see 3 most likely solutions to the problem and would like you to tell me which one you like best. Preferably with reason. Let's go:
1) Find the file that is responsible for the time after which the panel crashes and increase the time.
504 is a timeout error. Consequently, if I give the script more time, then maybe it will be executed correctly?
I couldn't find this setting myself. Maybe you can advise?
2) Find another option for adding domains to the message for WP Multilang to work.
Theoretically, maybe you can add domains one at a time, and then somewhere in the config just write a different path to the folder they look into?
I haven't been able to do it on my own either. If you know how, I would be grateful for advice.
3) Check out WP Multisite.
I'm beginning to think that I'm trying to start projects in multisite mode in vain, since it may someday be necessary to separate them, and this will not be easy.
How much does WP Multisite save machine resources? It begins to seem to me that the savings in resources there are insignificant, but it is used mainly to save time on making edits, without which I, probably, will somehow survive.
No one has commented on the situation on the official Vesta forum ( https://forum.vestacp.com/viewtopic.php?t=15763 ), so I hope for you.

Wait until February 27th. It has been announced that LetsEncrypt will start issuing wildcard certificates. That is, one certificate at once for all 3rd level domains *.site.ru
