How to format a memory card?
Such a thing, somewhere a year ago I ordered a memory card for aliexpress with a huge discount.
The card promised to be 64 Gb, but it turned out to be much smaller (about 9 Gb) and simply with cyclic overwriting :D
It cannot be said that I was not ready for such a turn of events, given the cost of $ 8 with a ruble exchange rate of 36 for $ 1
It turned out it's very easy on the first day when formatting via HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool 2.1.8
, the flash drive was formatted halfway and did not start again, drivers fell out on the card reader in the laptop
I wrote to the seller, he was very surprised, and offered me to return the memory card to him, and in return he would send me a new one or return the money, of course, I didn’t send anything, issued a refund of half the amount and ruined the seller’s rating with one-star feedback.
But I didn’t throw out the memory card and decided to conjure with it, as a result, at some point after the resuscitation of the windows drivers with standard tools, I saw the memory card and even formatted it, the size became about 9 Gb, I tried to format it again through HP Tool and everything happened exactly as the first time (it’s not clear what I was counting on, well, God bless him) with one difference, the regular means didn’t see the memory card anymore under any pretext, I tried it in different devices: a camera, phone, tablet, everywhere deaf, or sees but can not format, or does not see at all.
I put it in a junk box and forgot about it.
My UBOX R89 arrived yesterday(a chic thing, if you are thinking about buying a TV box on Android, I advise) and I remembered that there is no free memory card for it (and it is better to store the cache from torrent tv on external memory) and then my "Schrödinger card" caught my eye 9 gigs, which is in an interesting state.
I connected it, I didn’t see it, which was natural, I tried it through the recovery, but here the memory card is already visible, and even the contents are visible, moreover, TWRP recovery even managed to create a folder on it for its own needs, which means the patient is more alive than dead .
Attempts to format, wipe, repartition into several partitions, convert to another system run into the fact that TWRP recovery cannot mount the partition with the memory card and perform further actions.
We return to Windows, 3 computers, different versions (8.1, 8, 7) everywhere there is silence both through the built-in and external card readers, apparently Windows doesn’t like something and it cuts off sections of the memory card, we try R-Studio and MiniTool Partition Wizard, as specialized software for working with sick partitions, but also no results.
I tried to download 2 more linux-based live cds but unfortunately none of them saw the memory card.
In linux, I don’t know at all (I can launch a browser in ubuntu), which raises a question for the community: how? how to mount a partition under linux? and how to format it so that it would work later? I ask you to share your experience in resuscitation, if anyone has it, step-by-step.
