How to force output 5.1 sound via hdmi?
Hello!
Before creating a topic, I googled a lot.
It is necessary to pass sound through the 5.1 TV to acoustics (circuit: PC> HDMI> TV> digital coaxial> Logitech Z906 acoustics).
In the Windows 7 settings, the "nvidia high definition audio" device only allows you to configure stereo , 5.1 is not listed.
There are no such problems with the PlayStation3 - you choose 5.1 there and everything works according to the above scheme.
It was possible to achieve 5.1 sound on a PC in programs through their settings: VLC, WMC, MPC. In 5.1 games, it was not possible to achieve.
Windows has all the updates, the latest nvidia drivers, a GeForce GTX 480 video card.
Who knows, maybe there is some way to force 5.1 constantly via HDMI in nvidia and Win7 video cards?

1. Are the latest drivers installed? I have no problems with the output of 5.1 on the Nvidia video card.
2. You will not withdraw 5.1 by number from games. In the same place, the usual PCM sound is formed, therefore, either output it analogously or directly to the receiver. Then the 5.1 PCM stream will work, but the TV set can bitstream dts or dd. So after it you will get only 2.0 PCM.
Yeah thanks. Last night I just realized everything you explained. It's easier to leave the connection with tulips than to suffer like this with virtual cables. And it seems that the article does not say how to use HDMI vidyuhi to output DD Live (only optics or coaxial).
