How to become a true admin?

It so happened that for a long time I have been working as an enikey worker, that is, I do everything that normal admins spit on. Unfortunately, I did not come across serious things like windows server, AD, GPO, LDAP, virtualization, * nix, freebsd (I just read). Frankly, I'm tired of it, I want to become a normal specialist or network or system administrator. But it turns out that without the knowledge of the above, I can not get a normal job. Nobody wants to teach. The question is, how can I catch up? books, of course, but books without practice are just letters. Anyone who has been in this situation and just not indifferent, I ask for help. Thank you.

  • Change jobs where tasks will appear for you, the development of which in the process will give you experience. Usually these are relatively small companies with the potential to grow from small to medium businesses. They are also small-medium outsourcing companies that serve others and have just begun to accumulate their expertise in various areas.
  • Try to get a job as an assistant administrator, having discussed with the employer the prospects for growth and your desire to develop, the possibility of participating in such tasks, showing that you are ready to take responsibility for the result and make every effort not to "break what is already working."
No one in their right mind would entrust a ready-made existing infrastructure for tests or someone else's training. Either you must be responsible for what you are doing, or you yourself must build something that the company does not yet have (but needs), gaining experience in the process.
A good number of true admins have learned many things themselves, as they were interested in understanding the subject and the tasks they face.
Without this, none of the above will help.
Do not expect lectures from admins "how to do it" for everything. You will always be dependent on them, never learning how to solve future problems on your own.

Learn for yourself.
Now it is very easy, if there is a desire.
Lots of books, courses, lectures.
And practice - do you have a computer at home?
What is the problem to raise a virtual machine? Set up a server, set up a virtual network.?
Or install Linux, raise a web server.
No one will teach you - who needs it, except for you.
Therefore, decide on a specialization, take literature, read and immediately try.

Change the work of an enikey worker to an enikey worker with growth to Admin.

Grow a beard)) but seriously, the cops are powerful now. Virtualize locally and train on this farm. Rent a server on a hetzner, let's say, you can also test there if your capacities are not enough. For cisco packet tracer routing. It's almost like living there. It's useless to teach Fryakh IMHO, it doesn't develop, nix centos and Debian are better. Again, virtual machines are our everything) kvm raised on hetzner is already well done, while you learn from virtual machines, at the same time you will begin to understand the tail of the system.

Decide on a direction. Feel for a couple of weeks on virtual machines and emulators and go to another office, preferably a large one (even a very large one), for any salary. For example, some thread Rostelecom or what is in the region.
PS If you choose a networker, then read books on CCNA (only not junk, but relevant ones), enlightenment will begin in your head, everything is clear and on the shelves.

One desire is not enough.
Start doing something, loading yourself with more and more difficult tasks.
In general, Ergil Osin
would be with us. He would popularly explain everything to you (and to everyone here))))))))))
