How to force email clients to check for new emails in all folders?
I switched not so long ago to mail for domains from Yandex, jambs fell down.
Many sort incoming mail into subfolders, for some reason Yandex, unlike Gmail and many other imap servers, has subfolders in the inbox, in all mail clients they are displayed as folders at the root, I put up with this, now a new problem.
Mail clients don't report or display new emails in folders until you directly access that folder, which again is strange, I don't remember such problems when using other imap servers.
For Thunderbird, the solution was found quickly, you need to change the mail.server.default.check_all_folders_for_new parameter from false to true, but what about other email clients, such as Gmail and Mail from Apple?

Have you configured the namespace overlap for Yandex in Thunderbird?
And actually, this is not done by Yandex "not like everyone else", but by Google, which actually has shortcuts to folders instead of folders, which is why you have to prescribe the IMAP server directory "[Gmail]"
