How to flash Vodafone k4203 or disable cdrom permanently?
Faced the problem of the impossibility of uploading firmware to huawei e3531 / vodafone k4203.
I open ports through sw_project_mode. I tried debugging and the project, it opens everything, but when flashing, it gives different errors, depending on the firmware methods and the firmware itself.
How to flash:
1. I install the fc_serial, datacard_driver, mbservice drivers (I tried with and without it)
2. I install Vodafone software with zerocd, because only after installing it does at least a card begin to be seen. The modem is in highlink mode
3. I open ports
4. I install the firmware.
What firmware did I try:
1. All firmware from the e3531 theme on 4pda
2. BIN and exe firmware via flash_via_balongflash_2018-06-11
3. BIN and exe firmware via flash_via_pupdatewiz_01
I tried to solve problems through the method described on the forum using the datalock-
> godmode commands, It did not help
. it is severely limited in functionality
The ultimate goal in the worst case:
Turn off cdrom so that the modem works without drivers in fedora
To turn off cdrom, I tried:
1. all variations of u2diag that I could google. Answers ERROR or CME+ERROR
2. SETPORTMODE in any variation. Responds to ERROR or CME+ERROR
Tried to view the current song via getportmode. It answers with this:
Send:AT^GETPORTMODE
Recieve: ^GETPORTMODE: TYPE: WCDMA: Vodafone(Huawei).
In fact, I tried a little more than I wrote, but I didn’t roll you an even bigger sheet and roll it like that. Help, please, than you can.
Here is the modem info from dcunlocker:

Apparently, this is what the topic on w3bsit3-dns.com is called "the ability to change the firmware is blocked." I fought for a long time - I could only flash it with jtag. Did you end up with something?
