How to fix virtual machine lag under OS X 10.10?
There is a problem that I'm tired of putting up with.
I have a VM with Ubuntu Server as a development environment. I can immediately note that everything is in order with the image, more on that below. I'm using VirtualBox under OS X 10.10.
The problem is the extremely low speed of the virtual machine. Let's say phpunit from the console starts for 5 seconds before moving on to the tests. Web pages are also loaded in 2 seconds.
All updates on OSX and Virtualbox are installed. I have tried reinstalling Virtualbox.
For the sake of interest, I installed Ubuntu 15.04 on another partition of the laptop, and also Virtualbox there and copied this VM. Everything flies as it should.
I tried to google - either I somehow formulate the request incorrectly, or I have a unique case, or the low performance of virtualization under OSX does not bother anyone. On the other hand, a Windows 8 VM is fast.
Has anyone solved this problem?
So far, there is a hypothesis that the problem is related to the peculiarities of the shared folder.

I don’t want to breed holivars, buy parallels, everything works as it should, both Windows and Linux. I didn’t make friends with VirtualBox in terms of performance either in Linux (I use KVM everywhere.), Or in Windows (I only see it in a virtual machine now), or in OS X (I use parallels).
I had performance problems when using Windows 8 in Parallels Desktop (relatively high CPU usage), and so, disabling such an option as "Nested virtualization" in the PD settings helped. And it helped a lot! I don't know if there are such options in Virtual Box...
