How to fix "Server refused to start a shell/command" error when connecting to FreeBSD via putty?

Good afternoon!
Can't connect to FreeBSD server via putty. After entering the password, a message appears:
Server refused to start a shell/command.

Check the user's shell. Does it exist, does it start, is it set correctly.

You have a curved shell set to the user, most likely. Try doing it locally on the server:
pw usermod <username> -s /bin/sh
Then try putty again.
