Okay, I figured it out...
To begin with, I completely demolished the instance and created a new one.
When entering the console, the system gave a warning that the language was not selected.
Tried these commands:
locale
export LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8; export LANG=en_US.UTF-8; export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8; locale-gen en_US.UTF-8 (this didn't work)
sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales (Here a window popped up where you need to select a language, chose en_US.UTF-8, switched to en_US.UTF-8 or C.utf8. Chose C. utf8.)
reboot
and everything worked further.
I suppose that the error was due to the fact that Lubuntu was installed at the beginning, and then without a wipe it started loading another "system", there was a confusion of libraries.
