How to find all records for a certain period and in a certain category in modx revo?

Let's say there are two categories, "News" and "Blog". How can I pull out all entries from the "News" category for a certain date? For example, show all entries for March 8 from the News category.
Most likely, somehow through a GET request, but how? I use pdoTools.
