How to find a point between two points?

There are two points, for example (1; 1) and (2; 4) and I pass some distance between them, for example, the distance is 1 long, the distance between the points is about 3, and at what point will I find myself?

You have 2 points let's say A and B with corresponding coordinates. You know the length of segment AB (calculated from the coordinates - the square root of 10 in this case). You know that point M (conditionally) is at a distance of 1 from point A. Take the formulas for dividing the segment in this respect and count.

vector formula: A + (BA)/sqrt(|AB|)*3
In numbers
x = Ax+(Bx-Ax)*3/sqrt((Ax-Bx)^2+(Ay-By)^2)
y = Ay+(By-Ay)*3/sqrt((Ax-Bx)^2+(Ay-By)^2)
