How to evaluate the quality of site layout and integration with CMS, if I am a complete zero in these matters?
Actually the question is in the title. We need high-quality layout and site integration with CMS, but I absolutely do not understand all this. Use only a validator and that's it, or are there other tools and criteria for assessing quality?
Let's say that it is not so difficult to evaluate the quality according to visual/obvious criteria. For example, cross-browser compatibility - it will not be difficult to see how the site looks in different browsers. And here is another example (taken from one checklist for assessing the quality of layout):
It's bad to directly set the visual display of elements through js: $('.element').css(color,"#f00"). This should be done via setting/changing classes.
