How to enter FFiO SPbGU ITMO?

I want to transfer to ITMO for the specialty "Photonics and Optoinformatics" at FFiO, in connection with which the following questions arose:

1. How well do they teach at this faculty and specialty? They say "like everywhere else: if you want to study - study, if you don't want - you'll get a crust anyway", at Innovatika in another university, I realized that this phrase is not universal and does not apply to all educational institutions and areas.
I heard about a wide range of equipment and laboratories, but that's all.

2. How difficult is it to transfer / stay on the referral? Studying the list of vacant state-funded places for August 2020, I noticed that one state-funded place is available in the second year, and as many as 9 in the third. Does this mean that "Hell and Israel" begins from the third/fourth semester? I want (can only) transfer to the fourth semester.

3. What are the job prospects? The current fourth-year student said that the science of this faculty is "ahead of its time", and therefore it will be difficult to find a job.
A familiar optician said that everyone is employed in their specialty, but I would like to know the opinion of a few more people.

I am interested because my place of study and specialty do not suit me. Ready to zadrot noku if it does not consist entirely of independent cramming and there are people who can explain the material.

Why do you need higher education?
Higher education is only the beginning of the journey. And now you don't want to work on your own.
A college is not a school. In any case, independent work distinguishes a loser from at least a threesome.
