How to enable 5.1 on SONY STR-DG510 receiver?

We bought SONY STR-DG510 in order to make surround sound. Connected via optics to a TV set, only SW, L and R work, although there are 5 speakers connected throughout the room.
We tried the AFD modes, when you change the mode to 5-channel, it still does not output 5.1 sound, just SW, L and R.
It has an auto surround sound setting (then it sends hissing sound to all speakers), you need a microphone, but I don't think that's the problem.
Maybe someone knows something about connecting such receivers and how to make it work in 5.1 mode.
