No way, they are loaded into a folder with the resource id, conditionally: img/5/, where 5 is the resource id.
And if you copy, but do not save, then there is no id at all, where should the pictures be placed? And if you copy and save, then the id is already different.
You can write a plug-in that would take pictures from a copy after saving, but did not see it on the network.
