How to draw a working button on canvas?

How to draw a working button (or button-like rectangle) on canvas without using html button. Where the cursor coordinates will be tracked, when pressed, the button is redrawn to the pressed one, when pressed again, it is redrawn back to the pressed one. Is it real at all, or is it possible to do it differently?
