Please tell me how to display news for today in one block and display popular news in another.
That is, in the Today block there should be news only for today, and if there are none, then it is empty, and in the Popular block, those news that are most often viewed.

All through modules, standard means.
1) Materials - News
There is a "tick" Order, set the number of views.
These will be the most popular.
2) Materials - Latest News
Increase the quantity to make the selection more convenient.
In the output template, make a comparison with the date.
