How to display a warning when clicking on a Whatsapp link if the client is not installed?

There is such a link https://wa.me/1XXXXXXXXXX

If the user has whatsapp installed, then the site is redirected to the application.
If the user does not have whatsapp installed, then nothing happens.

What can be done to open the app store? Or how can I issue a message "To use the link, please install Whatsapp"?
