How to disable HTTPS in Russian Wikipedia?
I noticed such an interesting phenomenon: when switching to the Russian (my main language is English) version of any Wikipedia article, even if it was opened via regular HTTP, HTTPS is turned on. If you edit the contents of the address bar when reading a Russian-language article and replace HTTPS with HTTP, it immediately switches back to HTTPS. With other languages (for testing, for example, I poked Portuguese) this does not happen. Is there any way to get rid of this effect?
I don’t see any reason to encrypt my Wikipedia traffic (especially since I don’t live in Russia), but I can name the reasons NOT to encrypt at least the use of a caching proxy server to save traffic and offline access, not to mention that it's just generally worth avoiding complicating things that there's no reason to complicate (and using HTTPS instead of HTTP is certainly complicating), I think.
PS: Surprisingly, it turns out that there is no "wikipedia" tag here and you can't add it, so I had to put the "wiki-engines" tag in order to somehow point the tags to the direct subject of the question.
